Build A Fast Site Using JAMstack (Hands-On Session)

Details

This month we combine our speaker session with our Meet4SPEED session to create new format - collaborative learning!

Let's learn together how to build fast web sites using JAMstack to remove server bottleneck and make faster and less variable HTML response.

If you build WordPress sites or custom applications using some kind of server-side language like Ruby, PHP or node, join us to learn the alternative approach that is all the rage these days and changes the way we think about "dynamic" content.

Before the session, check out https://www.thenewdynamic.org/ - a great resource with a bunch of showcases and tools to help. Bud Parr, maintainer of The New Dynamic and Gerald Onyango engineer at Netlify, organizers of JAMstack NYC Meetup (https://www.meetup.com/JAMstack-nyc/) will be joining us to mentor attendees together with Malek and Sergey.

Bring your laptop and prepare to code in groups, we'll be learning and building some sites together using tools like GatsbyJS, Hugo, Jekyll and publishing them to Netlify or GitHub pages.

We will also spend some time looking at resulting speed of these sites using WebPageTest and discuss how they can be made even faster.

Our host, Priceline, provides food and drinks so we don't go hungry.

Doors will open at 6:30PM, arrive, grab some pizza and start coding!
