What we're about

ALL NEW MEMBERS MUST BE APPROVED TO JOIN THIS GROUP. This is a beginner level Bible Study for women only. We meet via Zoom every week to read and discuss the Bible. Each week we take turns reading the Bible, chapter by chapter. This study is a great way to read God's word and fellowship with other Christian women on a weekly basis. It is recommended that you have a King James Bible (KJV). We are Bible believing Christians who allow the Bible to interpret itself and believe contending for correct doctrine is essential to the faith. We take a Pauline mid-Acts dispensational approach to the scriptures. Participate when you can!

STATEMENT OF BELIEF:

  • There is one true God (the God of the Bible).
  • There is one living and true God, eternally existing as the Godhead; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, each distinct and equal in power and glory: omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent (1 John 5:7-8; Col. 2:9; John 1:1; John 10:30; John 5:18; Mat. 28:19).
  • Jesus Christ is divine as the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully human, conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the virgin Mary (John 1:18; John 8:24; 1 Cor. 12:3; John 10:33; John 1:14; Mat. 2:1-2).
  • Jesus lived a sinless life, provided for the atonement of our sins by His death on the Cross and shed blood, was bodily resurrected by the power of the Holy Ghost, ascended back to the right hand of God the Father, and ever lives to make intercession for us.
  • The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of God, fully divine.
  • Salvation is a free gift of God. We are saved by grace through faith alone in Christ alone; that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus (Romans 6:23).
  • Salvation happens the moment a person believes the gospel of grace revealed to Paul by revelation of Jesus Christ. At that moment, you receive the indwelling Holy Ghost by which you are sealed unto the day of redemption.
  • The Bible is the inspired written word of God. We are commanded to study the scriptures rightly divided. The KJV is the preserved word.

Understanding the Bible in Proper Context

Link visible for attendees

2 Timothy 2:15, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

Paul tells us to become “established and firm” in the faith (Colossians 1:23), and that we “should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine” (Ephesians 4:14). He tells us it is entirely possible to be one of those who are “ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth”, (2 Timothy 3:7) and he tells us to avoid that. Instead we are told to "rightly divide” (2 Timothy 2:15)— What does that mean? The Bible does not contradict itself, but it does have contradictions.

For example, in Ephesians, Paul says one is saved by grace through faith, and not by works: it is the gift of God (Eph. 2:8,9). In James, in contrast, one is told, “You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only” (James 2:24). Who is right?

Another example is in Acts 2:38, where Peter commands those present to, “Repent, and be baptized for the remission of sins, and to receive the Holy Spirit.” However, Paul says that after we believe the gospel of our salvation, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise unto the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13, 4:30). Again, who is right?

As we can see, the Bible has contradictions, but once you understand right division, you see that the Bible never contradicts itself. Therefore, it becomes imperative that we learn to rightly divide the word, such that we know what is written TO us, today, and what is not written to us today, but is still profitable for edification.

The God of the Bible is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow; however, how He deals with mankind has changed throughout time. When we understand what books of the Bible apply to us today, it will keep us from falling victim to false teachings and doctrines and is an act of honoring God as we work toward being "a workmen approved unto God that need not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth".

Because this is such a critical topic to growing in the Word of God, we are offering this class once every month. We look forward to becoming established in the Word with you.
