What we're about

All are welcome to this meditation group that practices the art of mindful living as taught by Thich Nhat Hanh, a Vietnamese Zen Master. This practice emphasizes fulfillment of our deepest aspirations as individuals, while also nurturing the supportive, harmonious atmosphere experienced by those attending; each person offering their inclusive, peaceful, friendly presence.

As a group we realize the joy in going as a river, rather than always being separate drops of water. While regular meditation sessions are based on ancient Buddhist exercises, members are encouraged to value, stay connected to, and deepen practices of their root traditions.

We try our best to engage mindfully throughout each moment of the day, not just during sitting or walking meditation. It's quite possible to be more aware in the kitchen, in the car, at work, interacting with others, and while walking from one place to another. With some training, we can return to our conscious breathing in each and any moment to restore our calm and stability.

During each session we sit peacefully and do walking meditation, share a reading, talk about what arises for us, and share challenges. It helps us all when we share joyful successes, as well as difficulties that we face in living mindfully.

Every other month, after meditation, we enjoy a tea ceremony and socializing.
