What we're about

This group is for any one keen to build the courage and fitness to set, meet, and exceed their running goals. Focused on non-runners, we will host a weekly run meetup to build your confidence, encourage positive mental well-being and motivate you on your journey to become a runner.

Beginners Waterfront Run -- back to Thursdays!

Freyberg Pool & Fitness Centre

We'll meet outside the Freybreg Pool for this one. It's a paved path the whole way and thus very suitable for beginners. This will be a slow run/jog, but feel free to walk it if necessary. We'll take it easy and go twenty minutes out in the direction of Wellington Central Train Station, and when the clock hits 6:20 we'll turn around and make our way back to the starting point. The whole run will be along the waterfront. We run as a group and don't leave anyone behind! This is an easy weekday run that aims to get you up and moving with the support of a group of peers. Whether you're an absolute beginner or are already semi-experienced, going around Wellington's beautiful waterfront is something we can all enjoy and appreciate. Looking forward to seeing you there!

We'll take it easy and go 25 minutes out in the direction of Wellington Central Train Station, and when the clock hits 11:25 we'll turn around and make our way back to the starting point. The whole run will be along the waterfront. We run as a group and don't leave anyone behind! This is an easy weekend run that aims to get you up and moving with the support of a group of peers. Whether you're an absolute beginner or are already semi-experienced, going around Wellington's beautiful waterfront is something we can all enjoy and appreciate. A big part of this group is to set and accomplish goals. Wanting to lose weight? Or enter your first race? Come run with us and we'll help get you there. Wanting to just show up and have fun whilst getting a sweat on? That's perfectly acceptable, too -- we encourage everyone who's after that runner's high to come on out! Please note: If you feel unwell or have any cold or flu-like symptoms, or have been told by a doctor or public health authority to self-quarantine for any reason, you are not allowed to come on this run. Please refer to the Ministry of Health website for advice. You can also call Healthline on[masked] if you have any symptoms. While on the run, please follow good hygiene practices. I'm requiring that everyone be physically distanced at all times, with at least 2-3 meters between all persons (unless you're from the same bubble). Coughs and sneezes are to be directed into one's elbow or a tissue, if you have them. This event may be changed or even cancelled depending on both the weather and any government directives regarding the pandemic. Please ask questions in the comments below if you're not sure about anything!
