For this May’s meet up we have a special guest speaker. HomeAdvisor’s own Chris Atkinson. Chris is new-ish to the automation game, but has jumped right into the deep end and has surfaced with a fantastic topic to discuss. Chris will be walking us through creating 2 easy to build frameworks from scratch that you can make in less than an hour. Personally, I think this is a fantastic area for insight. If you’ve always wanted to be able to build something from scratch or want to have something in your back pocket if you are on a very accelerated timeline to get automation coverage this is the talk to you. As for the frameworks Chris will demonstrate a simple UI based framework and an API framework both using open source tools that you can download and get started. If you are a fast enough typist you might be able to build it right alongside him!
The tools he will be using to build the frameworks might be familiar to you.
* Nightmare - A UI testing tool in the same vein as phantoms
* PostMan - The venerated Google Chrome Rest Client has a very robust features you can use for complex re-usable API testing. Minimal Coding Knowledge Required!
This one is sure to be exciting and educational and one you don’t want to miss. Of course we will try and record it as always, but given our track record the only way to be sure to see it is to be here! So come on down this May 24th at 6:00 PM at the HomeAdvisor headquarters and enjoy some pizza and knowledge. In that order!
