About us
We are a friendly, upbeat walking group with members typically aged 30s-60s, providing a mixed programme of walks every weekend, as well as social events, weekends away, and other activities.
We are part of the national Ramblers, so for a one off yearly fee of £43.00 you can come along to any of our events. We hope that once you have walked with us a few times you will be tempted to join us as a member of the West Kent Walking Group

Mark's Tunbridge Wells - The Rock Tour, 13.5 miles, moderate
TUNBRIDGE WELLS RAILWAY STATION, Mount Pleasant Road TUNBRIDGE WELLS Kent TN1 1BT, TUNBRIDGE WELLS, GBJoin Mark on a spectacular 13.5-mile adventure exploring the remarkable sandstone rock formations that surround Tunbridge Wells — a landscape shaped over millions of years and beloved by walkers, climbers, and explorers alike.
Our journey begins at Tunbridge Wells station where we head through the coomon to he iconic Wellington Rocks, where generations of children have scrambled, climbed, and played among the towering sandstone outcrops. From there, we make our way to Mount Edgcumbe Rocks, dramatic formations nestled beside one of Tunbridge Wells’ most charming pubs and restaurants.
Leaving town behind, we head into the countryside towards Bulls Hollow, a hidden former quarry near Rusthall with an atmospheric, almost secret feel. Soon after, we arrive at the world-famous Toad Rock, perhaps the area’s best-known natural landmark, whose balancing shape has fascinated visitors since Victorian times.
Before departing Rusthall Common, we visit Sweeps Cave, a mysterious sandstone hollow steeped in local folklore, then continue on to the magnificent High Rocks. These striking cliffs and pinnacles were formed over 100 million years ago from ancient sandstone deposits and became a hugely popular Victorian tourist attraction after the railway reached Tunbridge Wells.
We then join part of the Tunbridge Wells Circular route towards Groombridge, where we encounter Harrison’s Rocks — a paradise for climbers and one of the UK’s premier sandstone climbing venues. It’s common to see climbers carefully making their way across the rock faces here.
Venturing deeper into Sussex, we discover the quieter beauty of Eridge Rocks before enjoying a peaceful woodland stretch through Broadwater Forest, one of the route’s most tranquil and scenic sections.
Finally, we loop back past High Rocks once more and return to our starting point through elegant Nevill Park, ending a walk that combines natural history, hidden landscapes and some of the finest sandstone scenery in the South East.

Geoff's Seven Sisters Walk, Linear, 13.5 miles, Strenuous
Martello Tower, The Esplanade, Seaford, GBA classic 13.5 mile coastal walk from Seaford to Eastbourne, incorporating the stunning views of the iconic Seven Sisters.
We will start at Seaford and begin with a steep climb up Seaford Head before following the cliffs to Cuckmere Haven. En route you will see the classic view of the Seven Sisters and the famous cottages.
We will stop at the Seven Sisters Visitor Centre for a short refueling stop before we launch ourselves onto the 7 Sisters which lie between Cuckmere Haven and Birling Gap. You will be rewarded by lunch at Birling Gap, with shop, cafe and toilets. It's then only 5.5 miles back to Eastbourne via Beachy Head.We will be stopping for photo opportunities.
Please bring your own picnic food as cafes en route get very busy & queues will be long.
The 12/12X Coastliner bus runs the length of the walk and this can be used to make the route shorter if needed. This whole route is covered by the £3 price cap. Alternatively, you have the option of parking the car in Eastbourne (ie, NCP) and taking the bus to Seaford, before the start of the walk, so car will be at the finish point.
Rough distances are Seaford to Cuckmere Haven 4 miles, Cuckmere Haven to Birling Gap 3 miles, Birling Gap to Beachy Head 3.5 miles, Beachy Head to Eastbourne 3 miles.

Our walk finishes at Eastbourne Pier. It's then a short walk to the 12/12X bus stop on Gildredge Road ( Stop G1 ) close to the Station.

Cranbrook to Bedgebury Circular
Co-op car park, High Street, Cranbrook, Kent, GBThis 13-mile circular walk starts in the historic Wealden market town of Cranbrook. Our route takes us along the High Weald National Landscape trail, heading out towards Swattenden before arriving at Bedgebury Pinetum. Once there, we will walk through the beautiful woodland before stopping at around 8 miles for a picnic lunch (there will be time to get a tea / coffee at the visitor centre). Following lunch, we will continue our walk through the pinetum before returning to Cranbrook.
The walk starts at 10:00hours, end time is approximate.
NB the public toilets in the car park at Cranbrook where the walk starts and ends are no longer open.
