Please describe your boat(s).

I have a Liquid Logic, Remix XP 9, plus my new addition is the Hurricane, Santee for open water and nice lake paddles.

How would you describe your kayaking experience? e.g. beginner (not been out yet to a few times), novice(been out more than a dozen times), kayak regularly (been out lots of times),been-there-done- that.(out in all conditions)

I would probably have to say intermediate level, because I regularly kayak. I've been on lots of rivers and a few lakes. I have also done some occasional class 2 rapids. Went down the Little Manistee twice, 6 to 9 mile; for the first time in September 2013.

Do you accept responsibility for your own safety and the safety of any guest you bring, while kayaking with the group? yes or no.

Yes

Please write briefly about kayak safety? Name a hazard and how you avoid it.

I always wear a pfd with a whistle attached. As a new paddler, the first lesson I learned, was to NEVER gab hold of a stationary object (such as a tree branch) while the current is moving you along. You WILL no doubt, end up in the river. Also, navigate away from strainers where there is a current, because the current can pull your boat in, and flip it.

Introduction

I have always had an obsession with rivers, even as a child. I find them tranquil, yet it stirs my soul to hear the rush of the waters. I also enjoy hiking, biking, climbing, traveling, gardening, cooking, yoga, sewing, and all the arts.
