The first and at the current time, only one of its kind creative arts meetup in Ottawa City's West End. The intent of this meetup is to provide a creative space for the like minded, artistically inclined souls of the West End of Ottawa to sketch, paint, do artsy things and socialize together. All levels of artists are welcome to join the group.
I am starting this group with the hopes of encouraging people to bring out their creative sides and promoting arts in Kanata/Stittsville/Carp area (although you are free to join from anywhere :)) .
Let's get together and draw some :)
Theme - artwork based on a chakra color of choice. Link for some info on chakras and colors - https://www.chakras.info/chakra-colors/
Covid Rules - Location TBD. We will aim for socially distanced outdoor locations only, if the weather permits. Otherwise, we will meet over Zoom. Please bring a camping chair to sit on. If you would like a table to work on, bring a foldable table. You might need to walk a bit from the car to the location, so pack light. Please bring a mask along. Please bring a beverage if the weather is warm. Please respect social distancing rules and other's space. Please stay home if you are not feeling well. You can work on something in the two weeks between meetups and bring it along to show and tell and discuss (this works best for Zoom meetups).
Alt theme - draw the scene around you. Alt alt theme - Please bring books/photos along if you would like to draw something else.
BYOE - Bring your own equipment. Suggested list of things to bring -
- sketch pad / drawing paper
- pencils, charcoal, crayons, oil pastels, pencil colours or pens - your preferred choice of dry medium
- erasers, pencil sharpeners
- feeling of creativity and socializing :)
You can be as detailed or as abstract in your drawing or sketch. You can do one or both themes. This is an unguided drawing session, although if you would like feedback I am sure others will be willing to help. Please do bring a dry medium for your work. Remember the goal is to have fun! So no matter what level of artist you think you are (we are always way critical of ourselves :)) just come along.
If the venue is a coffee shop, please support the venue by buying coffee and treats. A suggestion was also to come in 5-10 minutes early to get settled, so we can maximize our creative time; I leave that up to you if you want to do that.
I urge you to please RSVP ONLY if you are attending and update the RSVP IF things change before the event. I understand things can change between when you RSVP to the event and the actual event; but I would really like to get the correct headcount by the morning of the event. It helps with planning the space for the meetup.
