Make a Difference in a Rescue Dog’s Life

The pet industry as we know it today must change. The current means of supplying the public’s demand for companion animals has resulted in overpopulation, inhumane treatment, higher taxes for citizens and higher health costs for cities. But worse, if things continue every child today that has a puppy which will later be thrown away for typical puppy habits like jumping or chewing, or from boredom habits like digging or destruction, will grow up with bad memories of what it is like to own a “companion” animal. Future generations will miss a valuable life experience. So how do we change it today?

Rescue Kennel Club is Born

The Rescue Kennel Club (RKC) has been created to change the way America buys and raises dogs and cats. It starts with old-fashioned cowboy logic. When it’s time for the kids to learn about horses you start them on a mature, steady, well trained horse that can take the kids’ nonsense, and be patient while the child learns to ride.

With dogs, in America we buy a puppy that knows less than the children and the first time dog owner combined! So, what do you expect? Of course we have a fifty percent throw away rate. And, the dogs that aren’t tossed are usually banished to the back yard to live a life of isolation and solitude.

The RKC realizes that we are at a unique time and opportunity with a large number of people wanting to own and grow with a pet. On the flip side there are a group of pet owners who’ve had a bad experience and eventually throw away their young adult dogs. These dogs are at a perfect age to be evaluated for temperament, intelligence and to be trained. These dogs can step in like that old trustworthy horse and enrich someone’s life.

RKC Rescue Roundup

This spring we will hold the first ever RKC Rescue Roundup and now is the time for you be part of rescue history. The Rescue Roundup is an obedience and temperament competition for all rescue dogs and groups.

With enough media spotlight shining on us we will begin to put trained adult dogs into homes where the match will be a success instead of death for the dog. The more people that watch this event, the more we will begin to change how Americans think about the dogs they want to be a part of their family, and the more they will understand how important it is, especially for their first dog, to be a rescued dog and not a puppy mill pup.

Getting Started

So what do we need to start? Your participation, lots of media contacts, and eventually as we grow possibly some donations. But right now we need volunteers for the show and about a hundred trained, rescue dogs for the show.

“Where do they come from?” Glad you asked.

Most rescue groups appreciate how much more valuable a trained dog is to help their adoption. It’s just not possible to find enough trainers to volunteer their time to train the dogs.

Free Dog Training Classes for Dog Rescue Groups

We will hold dog & dog trainer classes every Tuesday night at K9 Kountry Kennel in Burleson TX.

Any Rescue group or owner of a rescued dog can come and not only train their dog for the competition; they will learn how to train dogs for themselves, their rescue group, and the future of a lot of dogs. Training begins at 6:00 pm and goes until 9:00 pm.

“What’s it cost,” you ask?

You will be learning a very effective way to train all dogs from an internationally recognized trainer to a level that will make your group’s dogs as well behaved as a dog can be. For all that the cost to you is ZERO, yup Zip, Nada, Nothing! This is about the dogs, ONLY!
