What we're about

This group is for anyone living with a visible or invisible disability or illness. This group is for introverts and extroverts a-like.

We will be doing social things like movies, coffee and/or dessert, and once it gets warmer: tackling some of the accessible trails in Boulder, adaptive waterskiing through EXPAND at Boulder Reservoir, handcycling/biking at Wash. Park for some exercise.

We can also go as a group to watch games or concerts and anything else that looks like fun.

I am always open to suggestions; so if there is something you want to do - let me know, let's get it on the calendar, and have fun while doing it!

Each event will have an "Accessibilities:" section: where I list as much info regarding accessibility that I can find. And I will try to remember to caption any pictures that appear in the event section for those with screen readers. (Since I don't use one, feel free to remind me, it I stop).

Some previous events this group has hosted have been:
*Christmas Shopping - disABLED and Able-bodied local Artists and Vendors (in Broomfield)
*ClayArt Pottery Co-Op (I belong to this Co-Op) Holiday Party and Sale (in Louisville)
*Astronomy at Audubon (WAY S. Littleton)
*Make a handmade ceramic coaster ($5) (Louisville - I taught this and it will repeat in 2017)
*Invisible Disabilities Community - Online (partnered with IDA Meetup Group)
*Let's Meet for Coffee and Pastries

Some upcoming events[include:

*2017 Network Meeting/Let's Plan out our Year! (location to be determined, probably Boulder)
*Make a handmade ceramic coaster or tile ($5) (Louisville, I'll teach this again at my Ceramic Co-Op)
*Celestial Seasonings Tour (Boulder)
*Hammond's Candies Factory Tour and Lunch (Denver) (most likely we will carpool to this event)
*Redstone Meadery Tour, Tasting, and Live Music (Boulder)
*Introduction to Map and Compass Class - Level 1 (Boulder, South Mesa) (YOU MUST REGISTER WITH REI @ https://www.rei.com/events/introduction-to-map-compass-class-level-1/boulder/159946 this event does cost money - REI Member price: $65 / REI Non-member price: $85. REI is going to work with us based on the types of disabilities we each have). There are only 14 people allowed in the class, so if this looks like fun, make sure to register with REI early! (There are already TWO of us going!)

If you're new to Meetup.com it is free to join (you just need to create a username and a password). Some organizers ask their members to pay a once a year due to help cover the cost of their particular group, some do not. It costs organizers about $90/6 months to keep the group open. I decided I would not charge anything for the first 6 months. After that, I will charge $5/year OR you can host (or come up with) a minimum of TWO events and that will clear you of either that year's dues (or the next).

Feel free to suggest this group to anyone you think might be interested!

Sincerely,

Anjuli Hurt
