Announcing a new Meetup for Los Angeles Film Enthusiasts!

What: Flor Silvestre (Mexico 1943) @ the Million Dollar Theater

When: Wednesday, June 23,[masked]:00 PM

Million Dollar Theater
307 S Broadway
Los Angeles, CA 90013

Flor Silvestre (Wild Flower):
With the Mexican Revolution of 1910 as a backdrop, this legendary film was directed by Emilio "El Indio" Fern?ndez. Starring Dolores Del Rio and Pedro Armendariz this is a drama of romance, idealism, and passion for the self and for a cause. With cinematograpy by Gabriel Figueroa.

The Million Dollar Theater is a great place to see this movie. Built in 1918 it was a jewel of early Los Angeles. In the forties and fifties when my (Mexican American) mom was a kid it was home to Mexican movies and Mexican vaudeville. My grandpa would sometimes take her out of school to go see it! Later the theater was used for religious revivals. Now it has been restored to its original glory. Bring your camera. There will be time to walk around before the movie and take pictures. There may even be musical performers and a guest speaker. It will be an event!

Thanks to Last Remaining Seats - Part of the Los Angeles Conservancy we will get to see this movie in this truly historic location!!! Hurry up and buy your ticket as the other movies have all sold out!

The movie is at 8:00 - I will be in line at 6:00 - If memory serves, the doors open at 7:00 - First come first to grab seats!!!! (Just to let you know the movie is at 8:00, Mexican time! There may be speakers and performers first!)

In the town of Bajio in the early twentieth century, Jos? Luis, son of rancher Don Francisco, secretly marries Esperanza, a beautiful young woman born to humble peasants. Appalled by the marriage and the fact that his son has become a revolutionary, Don Francisco disinherits his son and kicks him out of his house. After the triumph of the revolution, the couple lives happily until tragedy strikes.

Flor Silvestre, is a 1943 Mexican film, directed by Emilio Fern?ndez and starring the luminous Dolores del R?o in her first Mexican film after her long career in Hollywood's Silent Golden Age.
