Hi, Film and Food Enthusiasts...

Here's the November 1012 Newsletter. If you want to read it online, here's the link.

Film, Food, and Friends November 2012 Newsletter

NOTE: If you want to remain a member of the group, please visit the website at least once every 60 days. If you don’t, you will be removed from the group, because we clearly don’t meet your needs.

Hi, Film and Food Enthusiasts...

October recap:

We had a very busy, and mostly terrific October, with some hits (Argo, Seven Psychopaths)), some misses (Middle of Nowhere, Simon and the Oaks), and one catastrophe (The Loneliest Planet)...

Policy Changes:

(1) I’ve been posting many of the meetups several weeks in advance, but that hasn’t worked out so well in terms of people actually showing up, so I’m not going to do that unless tickets are already available. For the most part, meetups will be posted no more than one week early. I have notes for upcoming releases on the group calendar if you want to check out what might be coming.

(2) There have been a lot of “No Shows” lately (over 30% in some cases!), and I have to admit to a low tolerance for it. I provide enough ways to contact me before a meetup that I should never have to stand around waiting to greet someone who hasn’t taken the time to change their RSVP because they’re not coming. Beginning in November, two “No Shows” within 60 days will be enough for me to remove a member.

November’s Highlights

We have two huge movies coming up: Lincoln at the Landmark, and, the following day, the new James Bond movie, Skyfall at the Arclight Hollywood Dome. Tickets are already available for both screenings, and I hope that you can make both...:)

Other movies that will appear on the schedule close to when tickets are available are Anna Karinina (Landmark, 11/16), Holy Motors (Nuart, 11/19), maybe The Life of Pi over the Thanksgiving weekend, Hitchcock (Landmark,11/26), and Killing Them Softly (Sunday, 12/2), which opens in November.

That’s all for now. If you find this newsletter useful, or feel like I’m just cluttering up your Inbox, please let me know at [address removed]. I’m looking forward to your input...really!...:)
