New Meetup: A HARD DAY'S NIGHT and HEAD (The Monkees!) @ the Aero

Announcing a new Meetup for Los Angeles Film Enthusiasts!

What: A HARD DAY'S NIGHT and HEAD (The Monkees!) @ the Aero

When: November 28,[masked]:00 PM

Where:
Aero Theatre
1328 Montana Ave 14th Street (Cross Street)
Santa Monica, CA 90403
[masked]

Come out and join me the Saturday after Thanksgiving for a groovy double feature at the Aero. At 7:30 is "A Hard Day's Night" which I'm very excited about because I've never seen it before! Following a short break will be "Head" by the Monkee's - a movie that I'd never even *heard* of before! According to Andre (Assistant Organizer and Expert Movie Guide ;) ) "A Hard Day's Night" is a truly groundbreaking and seminal film - the first time anything like it had been done. However, "Head" is actually the better of the two films - more genuinely psychedelic in nature. Let's check it out and see what we think! :)

I'll meet everyone outside of the theater at 7:00 and we'll head in around 7:15. Be sure to get there early so that you can get street parking near the theater, and a good seat inside. Occasionally shows do sell out . . . just so you know! :)

After the two films we'll head over to Izzy's Deli for a bite to eat and some late night conversation. I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Saturday, November 28 - 7:30 PM
Double Feature: A HARD DAY'S NIGHT, 1964, Miramax, 87 min. Director Richard Lester's brilliant B&W comedy captures the Beatles at their best. From Lester's hand-held camerawork to Alun Owen's surreal script and George Martin's swinging score (both Oscar-nominated) to the Beatles themselves - exuberantly singing "Can't Buy Me Love," "She Loves You" and 10 other classics - this is the essence of the '60s.

New 35mm Print! HEAD, 1968, Rhino Video, 86 min. With Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork, Davy Jones. America's most successful pop group, The Monkees, fractured their cheeky TV image with this insane collage of surreal sketches and visual jokes. Co-written by director Bob Rafelson and Jack Nicholson, HEAD features a mind-blowing gallery of '60s icons including Annette Funicello, Timothy Carey, Sonny Liston and Frank Zappa.
