What we're about

The focus of this group is to have fun and learn about wine with various tasting formats. Some of the ideas would be having blind tastings where the bottle is hidden. Comparing different grape varietals from different regions such as a Syrah's from California, France, and Australia. Compare different Pinot Noir's from the same Vineyard but made by different producers. There are many formats we can come up with. I plan to have events with around eight people so we can discuss the wines more easily. While I do love drinking wine in social settings this group will be more structured. If you are very knowledgeable with a deep cellar or new to wine and want to learn feel free to join. An event would consist of each person bringing a bottle of wine to match the theme and a small appetizer to share. We can have different price points for the wine but certainly flexible. I initially plan to host at my home.

Westside wine tasting

Needs a location

For this wine event I would like everyone to bring a bottle of wine from a grape varietal that they have never tasted. You don't have but it is generally fairly easy to find. Really, anything will be fine. One bottle of wine and an appetizer per person. If you go into pretty much any grocery store or wine shop and ask for a new varietal from the wine steward they should be able to point to one. Quite possible anything from Portugal or Greece will new. Oregon alone has over 50 different wine grapes in the state. https://www.oregonwines.com/wine-varietal-guide/ I look forward to seeing you then.

Note: Exact location will be given out within 24 hours of the event as this is in a private home ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- We would like to share this evening together. We would like each person to bring a dish and a special wine to enjoy. I for one would like to hear what you are thankful for. Come prepared! I will bring Turkey confit, a bottle of 2012 Bergström Pinot Noir and for a dessert wine Muscat de Beaulieu From Beaulieu Vineyards. Rumor has it, a brisket might happen if there is enough interest! I would tend to think heavy whites, light to medium weight reds would be best for this evening. But feel free to bring any wine that you feel thankful for. Arkie will probably have a heavy red in there somewhere. If you are able to share this evening with us please list what dish you are bringing so we have a nice variety. If anyone wants to bring turkey I can change to salad, I have a really unique recipe I love.
