Come join us in playing some recreational volleyball and other games to celebrate the end of summer! If you don't want to play, you can visit with others. The vball group is really friendly! We are also doing a picnic so if you sign up, please indicate in the comment section what you will be bringing for food. Feel free to ask if you have questions. See you there!
Some of us have enjoyed coloring (River is our heroine) in another meetup group and we are going to try that with this group. We shall meet in Rozzelle Court inside the Nelson Museum around the fountain. Rozzelle is on the north end of the main entrances and just off the towering marble hall where special events are held. There is a cafeteria with service until 3:30pm that includes sandwiches and soups and salads and a sweet selection of desserts, and of course plenty of beverage options. There are going to be plenty of coloring materials available so if your lacking just join us and get an idea of where to pick up materials (any Hobby Lobby will have what you need as well). This is a relaxing atmosphere with adoration of each other`s artistic efforts and the tasty cuisine from the cafeteria. We should have a reservation for 10 with tables set up. Come and enjoy a pleasant afternoon and relive those elementary days of coloring inside (or outside) the lines. IMPORTANT: if you are a friend of the museum use the underground parking, if not there is parking on the side streets around the museum and some parking lots, however these all tend to fill fast especially on Sundays.
THIS IS A PLACEHOLDER ONLY--not an event (yet) Members have expressed interest in a murder mystery and dinner, there is an organization that utilizes the passenger excursion train service located in Baldwin City, KS (about 30min south of Olathe on I-35) called Kansas Belle, visit their website at http://www.kansasbelle.com Dinners on Saturdays are $68 and include a 5 course meal, the murder mystery is an additional $21 at this time. Dinners on Sunday (matinee) are $58 for a 3 course meal and the murder mystery is the same $21 (additional). For either trip, there is bar service on the train. NOTE the murder mystery may not be purchased stand alone, the dinner must be purchased to participate in the murder mystery. Thus the meetup group option is for either dinner, or, dinner & the murder mystery ( $68 OR $89 respectively for Saturday, $58 or $79 for the Sunday matinee). If you are genuinely interested and would be willing to pay in advance (taking into account that if your plans change it is left for you to sell your ticket to another--NO refunds), then we can schedule something this fall. Kansas Belle is already booked full through (Saturday) Sept 21, 2019 so the sooner we all agree the sooner we can schedule an event. There is a bourbon excursion as well but that shall be left for you to participate on your own. If you sign up please indicate what dates (Saturday or Sunday choice) you prefer and whether you want dinner or the full murder mystery/dinner package. There is no commitment yet, we are just getting an idea of interest. There is in all likelihood that we shall carpool to get to the Railway station from someplace central in Olathe.
Remember those horror movie Drive-In days? There is a double bill AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3 at the B&B Independence drive in on 291 hwy in Lee's Summit MO Bring your blankets and your coolers and let's be scared in preparation for Halloween. As this is a drive in we can car pool (pickups preferred as usual drive-in transportation) there. This event is hosted by the KC Horror Club and it appears reserved tickets are in the plans--more information to follow.
