What we're about

Who London is a social group for anyone 50+, founded by Alex in 2014. Alex is in her mid-30s and hosts a few events, or her Mum does sometimes too as she also loves to meet new people! We both really enjoy organising various events and we've planned lots, such as dining out events, walking tours, discos, theatre shows and concerts...... (If you are keen on hosting an event please email alex@wholondon.co.uk).

Whether you want to try out a different restaurant, a new activity, or focus on making new friends, there is something for everyone. Here are some past event photos: http://www.meetup.com/Who-London/photos/ (https://www.meetup.com/Who-London/photos/)

Joining our Meetup group here is free. Just choose which social events you would like to come to, RSVP on our meetup event page and book your member or guest tickets at http://wholondon.co.uk

Member tickets are cheaper and are for those who have a monthly or annual subscription through the website. However, you are most welcome to continue booking guest tickets for as long as you like. Your membership and/or event ticket costs cover our organising events, promoting them and our admin fees (including the Meetup fees we pay to run this group).

Some people head straight to wholondon.co.uk or come through our Facebook page and so you won't see their RSVPs on our Meetup group event pages. If you are on Facebook do join our Who London 50+ Socialisers Facebook Group: http://www.facebook.com/groups/WhoLondonFif... (http://www.facebook.com/groups/WhoLondonFiftyPlusSocialisers/)

Have a look at our amazing testimonials (http://www.wholondon.co.uk/testimonials/) page which includes links to guests' blog posts about our events - there are also photos and a 2-minute video! Alex also had a slot on BBC Radio London about our group and you can find that and read more at http://www.wholondon.co.uk/about-us/

Please get in touch with Alex whenever you have any questions as she is always on hand and will reply back promptly:

Drinks With Scandals & Stories Of Mayfair

The Iron Duke

Local Community & History Month And Mayfair Mingle. £15 members, £20 non-members. LIMITED SPACES FOR OUR PRIVATELY RESERVED ROOM (Please note not all our event attendees book via Meetup so the attendee list may not be fully shown on our Meetup group.) May is Local Community & History Month and to start May’s first Bank Holiday weekend we’ve arranged a meet, mingle and talk event just for Who Londoners at The Iron Duke pub, one of Mayfair’s hidden gems. After getting yourself a drink, maybe a snack, from the bar at 3pm, head upstairs to The Boot Room, our privately reserved room for Who London members and guests. Once you’ve got to know others, our London Blue Badge Tour Guide and broadcaster will share with us some scandals and stories of Mayfair whilst we continue to enjoy our Bank Holiday weekend drinks. Hear about the history of this fascinating area which has played host to a variety of people from rock stars to royalty – the scandals, the liaisons, the personalities, the historic buildings, the traditional shops with their Royal Warrants and much more. After the tales we can continue chatting as we have reserved the room until 5.30pm. There’ll be plenty of time to maybe learn about other Who Londoners’ tales too! You’ll find the pub on Avery Row, a quiet back street between the parallel roads of Grosvenor Street and Brook Street. The pub signage is likely to be covered by the blooming flowers that tumble out onto the street. Diane's Paddington & Little Venice Tour With Puppet Theatre Barge

Outside Costa Coffee, Paddington Station

Canal Side Walkways, New Bridges, Victorian Terraces And String Marionettes. £20 members, £25 non-members. Your ticket includes a guided tour by Diane, our Blue Badge Guide, and a Puppet Theatre visit. This tour is open to all ages, but event attendees tend to be 50+. Diane will introduce you to Who Londoners at the beginning of the tour. (Please note not all our event attendees book via Meetup so the attendee list may not be fully shown on our Meetup group.) In the morning Diane leads a walk around Paddington. With canals, trains, trams and the Underground Paddington became a vast transport hub. However, today the maintenance and goods yards, once hidden away from public view, have been transformed with canal side walkways, new bridges, bars/restaurants and cafes where we can pause for lunch. Add into the mix some nearby elegant Victorian terraces and St Mary’s hospital where penicillin was first discovered, and we have a good mixture of old and new. After the break we’ll walk along the canal towpath to attractive Little Venice where we’ll visit the Puppet Theatre Barge. This is a 72 foot long Thames lighter turned into a permanent theatre. The stage was designed specially to put on shows using string marionettes. Initially based at Camden Lock it moved to its winter base at Little Venice in 1986 and has been here ever since. The show tours westward along the Thames during the summer months when it can usually be found in Richmond. Fellow Blue Badge Guide Rob Humphreys who, when he’s not guiding, runs the barge with his family, will give us a talk about the history of Puppetry in London followed by a demonstration of different types of puppet. ***Meet on Platform 1 of Paddington Station (main line, NOT underground) by the Toilets/Costa Coffee at 11am. The tour finishes at approximately 4pm at the Puppet Theatre Barge which is approximately 5 minutes walk from Warwick Avenue Tube.*** 2 ways you can book your ticket/s: 1) Register (http://www.wholondon.co.uk/membership-account/membership-description/) as a wholondon.co.uk member with discount code MEETWHO for one month's free membership for extra benefits (or existing members log in and book).
