What we're about
Whole Mind Health is an open community group aimed at creating a positive change in the culture and industry of mental health care. The group will collaboratively determine how each session will be conducted to be as engaging and effective as possible.
For now, the tentative outline will begin with a short educational presentation discussing the topic for that week followed by a group conversation, and finally, closing with an open, free-form discussion which can be spent sharing and providing group support or making comments and suggestions about how the group could best be run.
Members will be encouraged to suggest topics of interest to be featured in a future session or to provide constructive feedback on the most beneficial way to run our groups. This is an open group and anyone (including those with mental health problems and those who simply are interested in learning and discussing these issues) are welcome to join.
In addition to the topics that we decide as a group, a few example may include the importance of consumer education in mental health care and how to be an active participant in your treatment path, a detailed discussion of the benefits and risks in modern psychiatry as well as specific information regarding methods of diagnosis and specific information about psychiatric drugs Additional topics may focus on a specific disorders or may more generally discuss the current mental health care system, and provide information necessary to take full advantage of the public resources available.
