Northern Virginia Whole Food Nutrition Meetup Group Pages

This meetup group is focused around whole foods, basically foods that are eaten whole, in the form originally created by nature. In addition to whole foods, the group also discusses organic foods, locally grown foods, and foods that are produced in an environmentally sustainable way. The group will meet to talk about resources for obtaining whole foods, such as farmers markets and the benefits and nutrition of various foods and how methods of preparation can affect the availability of nutrients in food. We believe strongly in going back to our roots and preparing foods using traditional methods, following the principles put forth by the Weston A. Price Foundation and Sally Fallon's "Nourishing Traditions."

The group also explores different natural food and nutrition based paths to health such as SCD, GAPS, and incorporating various foods and herbs for maintaining good health.

We believe whole food nutrition is a lifestyle. It is not a fad diet; we do not deprive ourselves, eat bland foods, count calories or restrict fats. It does not involve bottled elixirs or miracle vitamins. Whole food nutrition is about lifestyle choices where we strive to consume whole, unadulterated, unprocessed, chemical free foods. The rest -- good health, mental clarity, fitness -- tends to just fall into place.
