Here's a nice genteel and gentle ramble around the reservoir at Roundwood, Wicklow's highest village. The lovely circuit takes you round the "big half" over to the Filter Beds at Diamond Hill where the bust of John Grey, City Doctor and Instigator of the Vartry scheme, can be seen. The water level is low at the moment so we will be able to see the Bualan Stone and probably the old bridge. Time permitting, we will do the "small half" which shows us more interesting aspects of this wonderful engineering project, dating back to the 1860's and dug out by hand. Flat, easy, lovely.... it makes up for all the "slopey" walks we have been doing recently!!
