Fall Harvest: Acorn Processing and Wild Foods of the season

Details

Join us to enjoy a wild edible plants outing as we process and eat wild foods of the Fall season. The outing's main focus will be the processing of Acorns, cooking the acorn meal to make Acorn Cakes and Mush, and eaten with Elderberry Jam! We'll also make stir-fry cactus, have Rose Hip tea, locally harvested Pine Nuts, Chia seeds, and others, and perhaps some Nettle Greens soup or other available wild foods of the season.

The fire to cook our meal is made without matches (and perhaps, time permitting, you can try your skill at the bow drill or hand drill).

Be prepared to do some work to make the meal happen. You will be rewarded with a wonderful wild food meal as well as experience the opportunity to reconnect to the old ways.

$45.00 per person. RSVP required. This outing for adults and children 12 years and older (accompanied by an adult)

Directions and exact meeting spot, what-to-bring, and payment info sent upon RSVP.
