Hi all:  First wanted to let you know that "tour guide training" is under way.  About 20 people expressed an interest and 10 are already scheduled for lessons.  The one-on-one tutoring is working great, and later we'll have group sessions, which will also be an opportunity to build community.   And it's all for free, except student guides promise to lead a free tour after the training.   If you are interested in the training, please contact me at [address removed].  It's an important program to spread important information, although (just to be clear) you don't need special training to post a meetup.  We are all about community-based collaborative education.

Meanwhile, we also need to form a Study Group.  We need to know more about wild edibles.  Some questions will be about identification.  But, we also need to know how much we should eat of any given food.  For instance, some wild edibles are coagulants, like plantain.  How much should people eat, recognizing that some people need thinner blood, etc.?  Also, there's the oxalic acid issue.  How concerned should we be about that?  Then there's the mustard family and its trace amounts of cyanide.  Store bought food also has these concerns, but we're focusing on wild edibles. 

So, please respond if you would like to join the Study Group and dig deeper into this subject.
