Tree identification by bud and bark in Santry Demesne

Opened in 2004, Santry demesne is approximately 90 acres, broken in 2 parts by the Santry river. The combination of river and land habitats allows for a wide variety of plants. As it’s still quite early in the year we’ll mainly be focusing on trees still. We’ll find out which ones like wet feet and if there are any you should be watching out for spring tapping. Even though it’s still winter some weeds are being weedy and flowering to spite the grey. As always there will be stories and foraging tips, as you learn to identify our wild flora and get in those steps for New Years resolutions. The small print: Charge for this meetup is €5 to be paid on the day. Please wear appropriate footwear, and wear appropriate clothing. This walk is mainly on paths, with possibly some muddy patches. Please wear boots. Anyone taking part does so at their own risk. Eating plants on this walk or on subsequent adventures is at your own risk. Wrongly identifying plants on subsequent walks is done at your own risk. Please consult guidebooks where appropriate
