• Building a Holographic Duet in Mixed Reality - Guest Speaker: Thomas Wester

    The Hololens Sundance premier of the David Bowie inspired “ Heroes (http://thomaswester.com/#/heroes/) ” explores how Mixed Reality can build embodied experiences. Thomas Wester (https://twitter.com/westert)will share lessons learned from building and exhibiting this unique Hololens experience. The experience blends photogrammetry, motion capture, spatialized audio and spatial mapping to create an embodied experience. The design blends the disciplines of choreography, dance, theatre, game design and interaction design. Thomas will cover the design thinking behind the experience, the technical approach and share learnings from exhibiting the experience at Sundance ‘17 and Unity Vision Summit ‘17. Thomas Wester works as an independent creative and technical director. Over the last 15 years he has blended digital and physical to create meaningful interactive experiences. His ever curious, ever inquisitive nature results in a wide and deep knowledge of both the creative and technical process with regards to producing for the interactive medium. He has worked with The Royal Shakespeare Company, The National Archives, Library of Congress, Hermès, Coca Cola, Target, MoMA, MFA Boston and exhibited at Tribeca and Sundance Film Festival.   • Capturing Holograms with Spectator View - Guest Speaker: Jackson Fields

    Need to present your HoloLens application to a live audience? Want to take high resolution images and video of your application? Learn how to use spectator view with your app to take your holographic captures to a new level. Along the way, you'll also learn some of the inner workings of the spectator view code. Jackson is a software engineer at Microsoft on the HoloLens developer platform where he developed spectator view.   • Re-Mixed Reality: Audio for HoloLens - Guest Speaker: Joe Kelly

From the use of Microsoft’s spatial sound to mixing your audio to account for the real world, Joe will go over the tips and tricks he has learned after over two years of creating various audio-focused HoloLens applications. Joe Kelly has worked in game audio for the past 9 years, 2 of which have been spent on audio innovation for HoloLens. He is currently an Audio Director at Microsoft, and focuses on the technical aspects of audio implementation while maintaining an understanding of sound design considerations, and spatial audio perception. Also at this month's meeting Dong Yoon Park, a UX designer at Microsoft and an indie developer who loves typography will present a short Micro Talk: Type in mixed reality space - Typography Insight for HoloLens. Yoon recently published his own app Typography Insight for HoloLens (http://typeinsight.org/hololens.html) which allows people to experiment and play with Type in mixed reality space. Yoon will share his story on how he brought his app from 2D world(iOS/Windows) to HoloLens.
