Meditation: Forms, Practices, and Purposes

Details
This is part of a 10 month series meant to renew our focus on meditation practice. Over the 10 sessions our focus will include the basic forms of meditation, the purpose of meditation, and on how to recognize and overcome obstacles that arise during meditation. We anchor each conversation in a chapter in Tricycle Magazine’s Meditation: Volume 3, using the reading as a way to generate insights and questions for further exploration. This month we will look at the fourth article, “Everyday Meditation: A Nine Minute Daily Practice” by Joseph Goldstein

Please join us at 36 Marengo Park in Springfield, MA (off of Belmont Ave). There is typically plenty of street parking just past the temple house. Please be respectful to stay clear of neighbors' driveways while parking. We are a short drive from 91. Email info@windingpath.org if you need advice about the easiest route to reach us.
Our weekly service starts with a 30 minute talk or discussion led by Reverend Shingaku. (See our website windingpath.org for details about the weekly topic.) After the discussion we perform the Tendai daily service and then engage in 2 periods of meditation. If this is your first time for attending, please arrive 15 minutes early for an orientation.
Please dress comfortably, and be prepared to remove your shoes. (We like to keep our space clean since many of us are sitting on the floor.)
