Windows Server 2012 Load and Lab - Primary Focus on installing and Managing, with a dose of Hyper-V

This is an all-day training event for the North East US (New England) Region.

The Boston Area Windows Server User Group (www.WindowsBoston.org) is providing a training class for their members and to the local technology community.

Sponsored by Microsoft Corporation and Bluefin Technical Services.

The topic will be how to install Windows 2012 and Hyper-V 3.0. The primary focus will be on Windows Server 2012.

The presentation will be put on by volunteer steering committee members and local technology leaders Clyde Johnson, President of Windows Server User Group and Dan Stolts, IT Evangelist for Microsoft Corporation.

Leave work for the Day and learn how to deploy and use Windows 2012. Both Boot to VHD and bare metal installs will be happening. You are welcome to bring your server and get it ready to drop into your work environment. If you would rather just get it running on your laptop, that is ok too.

We will start the day with lecture while you get everything setup and ready to build. We then jump into Hands-On-Labs and walk you (step-by-step) through the installation process.

We will have experts on hand to answer your questions on Windows Server 2012. You can perform the labs on Windows Azure (free account from http://aka.ms/IaaS ) or bring hardware running Windows 8/ Windows Server 2012 with Hyper-V

You will need to bring your own media. If you want to use evaluation software, please download it from http://aka.ms/getwin2012 .

To get the most out of the labs, download the VHD and the ISO. We will use the VHD for Boot2VHD and for getting some Hyper-V guests setup and communicating with each other.

If you have the time, you might want to also download System Center 2012 http://aka.ms/SC2012Eval and we will help you get your private cloud deployment started.

4 GB RAM (8 GB preferred) At least 60 GB of free disk space (75 GB preferred) x64 compatible processor with hardware assisted virtualization (Intel VT or AMD-V technology) Installed OS of Windows Server 2012 (Preferred), Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 8 NO Drive encryption technology (Bitlocker or 3rd party) if installing Windows Server 2012 on the host One Network Patch Cable [optional] Download Windows Server 2012 Trial http://aka.ms/getwin2012iso (ISO) http://aka.ms/getwin2012vhd (VHD) [Optional: production media if you like.] Power Strip
Download required Windows Server 2012 VHD from the link above (You will need the VHD!!!!) If you do not have the hardware needed to run all the labs, you can use Windows Azure. You cannot do the Hyper-V labs on Azure but all the rest you can.

You will also need to bring your Live ID (Microsoft Account) credentials. If you do not have one, please create it in advance. Don't have a Microsoft account? Sign up now http://aka.ms/GetLiveID!

You will also need a Windows Azure account. If you do not already have one you can sign-up for a free account from http://aka.ms/IaaS. Please note that this requires a credit card. You will not be charged unless and until you switch over to a pay-as-you-go account at some time in the future.
