• Road Rave 2018!!!

    Daley Plaza

Friday nights are a lot more exciting on skates! Join us for another Roadrave. Get to know the city the way you have never seen it before, meet awesome people and exercise at the same time. Roadraves are street skates organized by National Skate Patrol. They take place every other Friday during Summer. Route: 10 to 12 Miles through the city. Duration approximately 2 hours. Every skate has a different theme that will be announced shortly prior to the event. What to bring: A helmet (Skate Patrol absolutely requires them). Wrist guards and other pads are also recommended. Water (there will be none on the route). Snacks (Energy bar or something small) You will probably have to refuel at some point during a 2 hours skate. Blinky lights if you have them. Required skill level: Know how to brake Comfortable skating in traffic (we skate on the streets) Ability to keep a decent pace (you don't have to be super fast but somewhat able to keep up) Ability to step over curbs, railroad tracks, etc. Comfortable on hills (there aren't that many in Chicago) What else: This event is organized by Skate Patrol and not by this meetup group. We will stay together as a group and don't run red lights etc. You skate at your own risk. Skaters will have to sign a Waiver to attend. We typically end at a bar close to the starting location. Recently Monk's on Lake Street has been our destination. Check this page for last minute updates and more information. Road Raves are usually canceled by 3pm day of if bad weather is expected.

  • American Cancer Society Walk & Roll

    Maggie Daley Park

Join us as we skate 6 miles for a good cause! Walk & Roll is the rare community event that welcomes skaters! No one will ask you to leave or take your skates off. (Why I volunteer year after year.) This year, new later (warmer) date and new location, Maggie Daley Park! Inline or roller skates welcome. Walk & Roll is more than a Meetup, it is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. So registering is two steps: (1) RSVP here, and (2) register for Walk & Roll for $20 on our Windy City Skaters team page: http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/CommunityFundraisingPages/CFPCY19NCR?team_id=2427805&pg=team&fr_id=94051 Click "Join Our Team” and go from there. Last year our team raised $1900. Thank you. New this year, every registered participant gets a Walk & Roll t-shirt!
