2022 Winnipeg Open Data Hackathon

In celebration of International Open Data Day, Canada Computing and NESPRESSO Canada, together with support from The City Of Winnipeg Open Data, DataMB and Launch Coworking, are hosting the 2022 Winnipeg Open Data Hackathon on Saturday, March 5, 2022.

The general theme for 2022 is Geospatial Analysis - the creative use of geospatial Open Data, particularly Open Data from our city and province. Note that your hackathon project idea may use Open Data from other sources; and your idea need not include any geospatial analytics.

• 9:00 am to 10:00 am - Registration (On-site Attendees)
• 9:00 am to 10:00 am - Brunch & Reception / Networking (On-site Attendees)
• 10:00 am to 10:15 am - Introductions & Welcome from Event Sponsors
• 10:15 am to 11:15 am - Presentations & Overview of Local Open Data Sources
• 11:15 am to 12 Noon - Visioning Session and Team Formation
• 12 Noon to 3:30 pm - Team Hackathon Session
• 2:00 pm to 2:15 pm - NESPRESSO Coffee Break
• 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm - Group Check-in / Presentation Format Review
• 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm - Teams Prepare Presentations
• 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm - Teams Presentation (Recorded)
• 6:00 pm to 6:15 pm - Prize Draws & Giveaways by Canada Computing
• 6:15 pm - 7:30 pm - Post-Event Drinks & Networking (On-site Attendees)

Important to know:

• Hackathon team participants can participate in this event remotely via video conferencing (details TBA).

• There are no fees to attend this event as a hackathon observer or hackathon team participant.

• Each hackathon team may include up to 5 team members.

• On-site food service & NESPRESSO drinks will be provided at the in-person venue (Launch Coworking - Southside).

• Delivery Food vouchers & NESPRESSO coupons will be provided to remote hackathon team participants.

• Hackathon participants must supply their own computer system.

• All hackathon team participants are eligible for random draws to win one of three prizes donated by Canada Computing, which will include: a Computer Monitor, a WebCam and a Headset.

• Hackathon winning teams will be announced following the event.

• Each member of the Hackathon winning team (max 5 members) will be awarded with a NESPRESSO coffee machine gift package.
