Speaker: Felipe Ferreira was a Data Platform MVP from[masked], originally from Brazil but has moved to the cold lands of Canada. Felipe has been working with data for the past 12+ years and had the opportunity to participate as a consultant in projects for companies of all verticals and sizes around the globe, from fraud detection to government agencies to human resources and retail analysis.

Session Topic: CADORS Analytics - Using PowerBI to Analyze Aviation Accidents

The aviation industry in Canada relies heavily on statistics from the US market which is used as the source of truth in Canada, even though we have our own peculiarities like the extremely cold weather.
In this session, Felipe is going to present a project he's been working for the aviation community on which he captures data from Transport Canada's website about all aviation incidents/accidents since 1993 and use that data to analyze the most common causes for accidents and to identify interesting trends in this data.
We will see end-to-end the workarounds necessary to capture the data from an unfriendly website, clean the data into a temporary SQL Server staging and then uploading this data to Power BI for analyzsis.
