What we’re about
Welcome to Wisconsin Bicycling Meetup!
Wisconsin Bicycling Meetup is a statewide Meetup offering bicycle rides throughout Wisconsin. Our calendar includes numerous single-day rides and several extended weekend rides. There are a variety of rides, designed to appeal to riders of different abilities. We ride on both paved roads and state trails. The routes for the road rides have been carefully chosen to follow low-traffic, country roads, where you can enjoy the ride and the rural scenery.

See all- Take Me To The Border (and Beyond)New Glarus Chamber of Commerce (Trailhead for the Sugar River State Trail), New Glarus, WI
Join us for an afternoon and night ride on the trails!
In the spirit of Bike Fitchburg's ¡Pick Me Up at the Border!, we will ride to the WI/IL border (and beyond!) via the trails. Our ride differs in the start time and location, allowing us to ride outbound during the afternoon, while still allowing us to experience the fun of a night ride for our return trip.
In support of Bike Fitchburg, all riders are strongly encouraged to donate to Bike Fitchburg by registering for their ride. Link to donate to Bike Fitchburg.
Details:
- Meeting Place: Parking lot for the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce.
- Route: 55-mile ride (round-trip distance), following the Sugar River, Badger, and Jane Addams Trails from New Glarus to Orangeville, IL, just beyond the WI/IL state border. We will take short breaks, as needed, at the Monticello and Monroe Trailheads on both the outbound and return routes. At the turnaround point, in Orangeville, IL, we will stop for food and drinks at the BP convenience store along the trail.
- Ride With GPS Route: NG-055-Border
- Trail Pass: A Wisconsin State Trail Pass is required to ride on the Sugar River and Badger State Trails. All riders are encouraged to purchase their trail pass before our ride. Trail passes may be purchased online or at most Wisconsin bicycle shops.
Super-Important Stuff:
- Plan to arrive by 2:30 PM. We will push-off promptly at 2:45 PM.
- This is an afternoon AND night ride! Lights are required. We suggest a strong front light of at least 300 lumens and a working tail light. Bring additional lights or battery packs to allow for 3 hours of riding in the dark.
- Bring an extra layer of clothing. It will get cool after sunset, especially on the trail.
