"America's Little Switzerland" Weekend
Join us for a 3-day weekend of challenging road rides, Friday, June 22nd through Sunday, June 24th, in New Glarus, the center of "America's Little Switzerland", a unique and authentic Swiss community in southern Wisconsin. Come for just 1 or 2 days or all 3! The choice is yours! New Glarus (http://www.swisstown.com/) has a quaint downtown area with shopping and dining, the Swiss Historical Village and Museum (http://www.swisshistoricalvillage.org/), the New Glarus Brewery (http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/), which even has tours, a winery, and nearby cheese factories with tours. Each day, we will gather and head out for a bike ride. Afternoon activities after our bike rides include swimming in the pool, touring the town and relaxing at the motel. Each evening, we will have a group dinner. Three unique and very challenging road rides are planned for the weekend. Think "Swiss Alps" because each day's ride will offer mile-after-mile of rolling hills and several very challenging hills as well. (Elevation profiles: http://files.meetup.com/886410/ALSW%20-%20Elevation%20Profiles.pdf) All rides include a lunch stop and several other rest stops along the way. The 62-mile ride is an extension of the 40-mile ride to Mount Horeb and goes past Blue Mound State Park (http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/parks/name/bluemound/). Saturday: Yellowstone Lake State Park (Options for 24, 68 or 99 miles) Saturday's ride is extremely challenging with continuous rolling hills. The 68- and 99-mile routes include a stop at Yellowstone Lake State Park (http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/parks/name/yellowstone/). Sunday: Down By The Lazy River (Options for 38 or 63 miles) Sunday's ride weaves back-and-forth over the Sugar River several times. The 38-mile route goes to Albany and the 63-mile route also goes to Brodhead. New Glarus Accommodations The New Glarus website (http://swisstown.com/hotels-motels/) lists 2 motels, several B&B's and a primitive campground. The 2 motels are: • Chalet Landhaus Inn (http://www.chaletlandhaus.com/)[masked] • Swiss Aire Motel (http://www.swissaire.com/)[masked] Plan to arrive each day by 8:00 AM. We will push-off promptly at 8:30 AM. A few days before the weekend, an email will be sent to everyone who has RSVP'd with the specific plans for each day.

What we're about

Welcome to Wisconsin Bicycling Meetup!

Wisconsin Bicycling Meetup is a statewide Meetup offering bicycle rides throughout Wisconsin. Our calendar includes numerous single-day rides and several extended weekend rides. There are a variety of rides, designed to appeal to riders of different abilities. We ride on both paved roads and state trails. The routes for the road rides have been carefully chosen to follow low-traffic, country roads, where you can enjoy the ride and the rural scenery.

Please see our Pages (http://www.meetup.com/Wisconsin-Bicycling/about/) link for more details.
