"Being a dynamic principle, the Dakini is energy itself; a positive contact with her brings about a sense of freshness and magic. She becomes a guide and a consort who activates intuitive understanding and profound awareness...." —Lama Tsultrim Allione
Wisdom Rising Circles are community gatherings where women (and men) create the space to converse about their experience with the feminine in society, based on Wisdom Rising: A Journey Into the Mandala of the Empowered Feminine by Lama Tsultrim Allione. Lama Tsultrim places her teachings in the context of recent feminist resistance including the women’s marches, and the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements. She hopes that Wisdom Rising will help readers “respond with greater wisdom and effectiveness to the distress, challenges, and chaos of our global reality.”
The journey into the mandala gives birth to a renewed expression of the feminine that draws on ancient wisdom, but is tailored for this time and place. This inspiring book explores the principle of fierce compassion, the awakened feminine, and shows readers how they can use this principle for positive change both in their own lives and in the world. In Lama Tsultrim’s words: “Wisdom Rising is my journey, discovering the Tibetan Tradition, finding the dakinis, finding the mandala and it is also your journey. The book takes you into your own wisdom. It gives you a method to access your own inner wisdom so that you have the strength and the empowerment to create the change you want to see in your own life and in the world.”
To help us experience the journey more completely, Tara Mandala has prepared a suggested curriculum for Wisdom Rising Circles. As students of awareness for many years, our dharma group was selected to facilitate these circles in the DC metro area. As group co-leaders, we are honored to be given this opportunity to share the experience of Wisdom Rising Circles in our DC Metropolitan community. We invite you to join us.
Lama Tsultrim Allione is the founder and resident teacher of Tara Mandala, a retreat center located outside of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. For many years she has brought the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism and, in particular the teachings of the women of wisdom of Tibet, to the west with tremendous clarity. Wisdom Rising: Journey into the Mandala of the Sacred Feminine is her third book. She also wrote Feeding Your Demons: Ancient Wisdom for Resolving Inner Conflict.
Each study group will meet for a total of 6 two-hour sessions and will be facilitated by myself or my co-organizers. The groups will be offered a variety of dates and times. Each group will have approximately 5–8 participants. There is no fee, but each participant will be asked to commit to attend all of the sessions. We will start new six week groups as there is interest and a group forms.
