Full Moon Paddle

Details
Join us for a Full Moon paddle at Banks Lake National Wildlife Refuge. There is no shuttle on this outing, we can all keep a safe distance apart on land and on the water. This is a leisurely paddle around the refuge that lies in the Grand Bay–Banks Lake ecosystem. Come early enough to prep your boat so that we are on the lake by 7:30 p.m. We usually see birds, alligators and bats. The sun will set at 7:54 p.m. and sunsets are usually spectacular. The full moon will rise at 8:34 p.m. and if the skies are clear we will watch it rise above the tree tops and shine across the lake as the stars and planets also begin to be visible.
You must have a light for your boat or some type of light to have on yourself (glow sticks work well, or head lamp, flashlight, etc.) so other boaters can see you in the dark. It will be totally dark after sunset. You must wear a PFD. A whistle is not required, but it’s a good idea in the dark. Mosquitoes can be bad at dusk so come prepared.
Kayaks are available to borrow but please let us know at least 2 days prior to the event.
This outing is free for WWALS members, and $10 for non-members. For more information please visit our website: http://wwals.net/2020/08/09
