Women in Tech Belfast are back with our first Virtual Event of 2021! An involving and relevant panel discussion on Wellbeing in the Workplace – kindly sponsored by Version1.

2020 was a year like no other. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused disruptions to our lives in a variety of ways, from our working schedules to our social lives and relationships. For many, it has been a year full of mental health worries, isolation, and loneliness.

According to the Mental Health Foundation, more than eight in ten (82 per cent) of UK adults have experienced stress because of the pandemic. A study from Maynooth University has found that 23% of Irish adults have reported “clinically meaningful” levels of depression due to the pandemic. Almost three quarters of women cite burnout as a main reason, for downshifting their role or leaving the workforce because of COVID-19.

In this session , we will be discussing mental health in the workplace and how businesses can do more to reduce stigma and develop healthy workplaces. We will cover areas such as:

• What businesses do to eradicate any stigma around mental ill-health
• What should companies be considering around mental health and wellbeing in light of Covid-19’s impact
• Burnout – how to recognise it in oneself and others

We’ll be hearing from a broad range of panel members and the format will be a Panel Discussion followed by an open Q&A. Our fantastic panellists include:

• Nikki Graham, Operations Manager at GCD Technologies
• Danielle Topping, Senior Software Engineer at Rapid7
• John Ryan, CEO at Healthy Place to Work
• Ruth Marriott, HR Business Partner EMEA at Proofpoint
• Emma McPeake, BI & Analytics Consultant at Version1

Our sponsors Version1 are very kindly supporting a WiT Book Giveaway – we have Kindle copies to giveaway of Emily and Amelia Nagoski's gamechanging book - Burnout: The Secret To Solving the Stress Cycle.

The book is described as "Eye-opening, compassionate and optimistic, Burnout will completely transform the way we think about and manage stress, empowering women to thrive under pressure and enjoy meaningful yet balanced lives. All women will find something transformative in these pages - and be empowered to create positive and lasting change"

We can’t wait to see you there and encourage anyone with an interest in this topic to attend, regardless of background.
