Android for Everyone: Getting Started with Jetpack Compose

Jetpack Compose is a new and exciting declarative UI framework officially introduced this year for building native Android apps quickly, easily, and completely in Kotlin. Compose promises an exciting future for app architecture, but it is also a paradigm shift from xml and imperative UIs to declarative thinking in Android development. While declarative is new to Android, this is not the case for other disciplines!

In this talk, Sierra (a talented Android Engineer) and Alexx (a talented Frontend Engineer) will share how to get started with Jetpack Compose - whether you’re coming from a traditional Android background or building on your declarative skillset from a different background - like React, Flutter, and SwiftUI. With our unique perspectives, we will explore the similarities between Compose and React and how Jetpack Compose simplifies development for everyone.
