The start of a new year is always a good opportunity to reflect. In this session, we will explore ways to find the focus you need to more intentionally plan your professional development or prepare for your next career challenge. We will discuss techniques we have found useful over the years to prioritise goals and manage the overwhelming amounts of content we are exposed to every day in this ever-changing industry and come up with a plan that fits your ambitions and availability constraints.

Jessie Link is a VP of Engineering - Team Development at Twitter. In this role, she drives and supports initiatives to shape engineering to be more diverse, more decentralized and more productive. Previously she was a Sr Director of Engineering at LivingSocial and the Director of Engineering at Lookingglass Cyber Solutions. She is a veteran who served as a Captain in the US Air Force. She is passionate about building high performing diverse teams and frequently speaks on leadership topics. In her spare time, she enjoys gaming, movies and working on coding side projects. Maria (@mariagutierrez) is Sr Director of Engineering and co-site lead for Intercom London. She also leads Intercom’s global R&D Operations function with a focus on building a more efficient and effective Product and Engineering organisation at scale. Previous to Intercom, Maria was VP of Engineering at Edinburgh-based FreeAgent, one of the UK’s most popular online accounting software providers. As part of the executive team, Maria led the company through an IPO and acquisition by one of the largest banks in the UK. With 20 years of experience in the software industry, Maria has previously also worked at LivingSocial leading globally distributed teams, and at Adobe where she worked in the developer technologies group.
