⚒️ DevOps Study Night: Infrastructure as Code with Terraform

Welcome to our first DevOps Study Night for 2020! Throughout the year, the WWCode Portland DevOps Study Nights will focus on topics related to DevOps, Systems Administration and SRE. Our DevOps study nights will happen every other month.

This month, we will focus on Infrastructure as Code using HashiCorp Terraform. We will cover: Terraform basics (plan/apply/destroy), how to read and write HashiCorp Language, and how to make use of the OpenSource Terraform Cloud. Chris Dunlap from HashiCorp will lead the discussion and workshop. The workshop is all web based, so there's nothing to download or do ahead of time.

Chris Dunlap (he/him) is Senior Solutions Engineer at HashiCorp and loves OpenSource almost as much as he loves his cat. Chris enjoys working with his customers to further their adoption of cutting edge technologies. He has been a unix geek since the late 90’s and also spent many years building and managing datacenters. He has lived and worked in various places around the globe and loves to experience other cultures. 👩🏽‍💻 DevOps Study Co-leads:

Ann Wallace (she/her) is Security Solutions Manager for Google Cloud where she develops, designs, packages, security solutions for Enterprise Customers . She co-wrote Google’s guidance for running PCI compliant workloads on GKE. Before Google, Ann spent 14 years at Nike in various engineering and architecture roles. She volunteers and leads workshops with Women Who Code Portland. When not working, Ann can be found traveling and ultra-trail running with her dog Cedar. Twitter: @annnwallace

Amber Milavec (she/her or they/them) is a Principal Engineer / Architect for Skillz, an esports platform for mobile games. Formerly, she was a Senior Principal Architect at Nike, as well as the creator of We Code Hackathon for Women and Friends. Amber’s expertise lies in bot mitigation, cloud-native microservice architecture, high scalability, performance, security, and automation. She also loves retro video games and baby animals.
