Women Who Code Python Hacknight!

Details

Python is a top ranked programming language with many people learning it and applying it to numerous and very different domains. Its simplicity lends it to being great for teaching programming concepts to beginners and its massive libraries allow it to be a powerful language for solving many different types of problems such as web development, scientific computing, machine learning, data analysis, education and DevOps.

Come join us for our Python Hack Night! We will dive into fundamentals in python by building the visual, classic "Hangman" game! We will be learning about the python module "pygame" [https://www.pygame.org/wiki/GettingStarted] while building our games. Stay tuned for details on how to set up pygame before you get there!

All levels are welcome! Laptops are strongly encouraged, but not required.

PLEASE RUN THE FOLLOWING SETUP INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO THE MEETUP

Install Pygame

Windows: Install python3.6 from python.org
Make sure you install python3.6 with the "Add python 3.6 to
PATH" option selected. This means that python, and pip will
work for you from the command line.

Mac: python comes pre-installed on macs, but make sure you
are running python3.6 and not python2.7

Both: pip install pygame
