WWCode Vancouver Launch @ Microsoft Garage

Women Who Code Vancouver and Microsoft Vancouver are proud to present our LAUNCH event at Microsoft Garage on Thursday, January 19th 2017 at 6pm!

1. STACEY MULCAHY, Program Manager - Microsoft Garage, Owner - Bitch Who Codes

Title: JS Beyond the Browser

Description: Take JS beyond the browser into the physical world. With a variety of JS Robotics frameworks available, you can start to leverage your current skill set to create different types of experiences, from robots to connected devices. I’ll show a few fun little projects to get you inspired and explore the landscape available to you as a JS developer wanting to get a toe into the IoT waters.

2. AMELIA HARDJASA, Data Scientist & Product Manager - New Hippo Health, Data Scientist, Boeing Canada.

Title: Addressing climate change with data science and energy efficiency

Topic: Data science and machine learning are becoming more popular than ever, and with good reason. In this talk, I'll delve into a project showcasing the application of machine learning in the struggle against climate change, and provide some resources for those interested in exploring the field of data science.

Finally, WWCode Directors will speak about 2017 events, partnership opportunities, the state of women in technology, and some measurable goals for our group in 2017.
