Poet, author and editor Lynn Skapyak Harlin has worked with many, many writers over the years to spit-polish their work.
In this special Women Writing for (a) Change workshop, she will be our guest expert, providing tips and strategies to enhance our writing and edit for clarity and style, particularly on "The Elements of a Scene."
When: Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018
Time: 1-4 p.m.
Fee: $45; $25 deposit holds your spot. ($25 tuition if you are part of our Fall Series).
After our regular opening, Lynn will discuss techniques to build "The Elements of a Scene," the building blocks of any story.
We will dive into her process for how to "craft" and refine a rough draft or any piece of work. Participants will work in pairs to apply the techniques and process what they learned from the experience. The focus will be on how to create an effective "scene" for the reader, no matter whether the content is non-fiction, poetry or fiction.
Writers will have an opportunity to ask questions and get feedback as they request it.
We will also do a fast write, read-around, and readback lines to help integrate what we've learned.
Join us for this special opportunity to incorporate the experience of one of our dedicated local writing coaches within the framework of the women writing community.
