The effects incivility and your choice of words have on your team and business.

Main points: Positive phrasing and words matter. How not being a jerk can make your company more profitable.

I will be referencing Christine Porath’s study on the effects that incivility had on people and how that affected a company’s bottom line. I will also be going through how you can use words to help insight different emotions and perspectives on situations. How positive phrasing or using selective words can also cultivate a certain mindset around a person, item or situation and how this can be a useful tool.

This talk will tie in closely with the Scrum Value Respect and the Agile Principle "build projects around motivated individuals. Give them the environment and support they need, and trust them to get the job done".
