Inviting all Women in Big Data to please join us for an afternoon of immersion into the world of building Serverless Analytic Pipelines. Learn how to gain insights and knowledge from a growing number of IoT, API, clickstream and unstructured log data sources. In this event, we will introduce you to the world of serverless technologies, discuss common use cases ranging from scheduled nightly data warehouse loads to near real-time, building scalable, serverless, efficient event-driven ETL pipelines for your data lake and leveraging the curated data for Machine Learning. You will also hear from a fellow WiBD member on her journey navigating through big data world and lessons learned along the way.

In her talk titled, “My Big Data Journey as a Woman”, Chalcy will share her story of finding passion in Big Data and her experiences in the field as a Woman. Her story began as a software developer and eventually led to an exciting career where she built analytics platforms for one of the largest financial institutions. In this presentation, she will share her journey of looking at data differently from traditional data warehousing. She will discuss how she tackled obstacles such as data restriction, lack of ability to process massive data at high velocity, single machine processing, and being a woman in big data. She will provide insights about her lessons learned, and explain how her unique approach enabled her to make a meaningful impact in the big data industry!

About the Speaker
Chalcy Raja is a 25-year veteran of the IT industry who currently leads the Big Data Platform team at Equifax. In the last 8 years of her career she has contributed to the big data field in various roles such as data engineer, big data architect, and platform architect for analytics. In her role as a platform big data architect, she has been leading the delivery and management of Hadoop and Kafka frameworks as “Platform as a Service” to various business units within Equifax for 3.5 years. Her team also provides consultation on platform and data security to several internal customers. She has a Master’s degree in Engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University, India and came to Louisiana Tech for a Doctoral program. She enjoys volunteering with non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and is passionate about empowering women in technology. She has recently launched Equifax’s Women in Big Data forum to help women technologists across the company connect and grow. Prior to joining Equifax, she has worked as a consultant, architect and developer at various IT organizations
