This session will feature two ways to look at open source projects 1) Getting started technically & 2) How to use an open source project to build your career on the resume & interview
We also have a special mentoring invite! Read on to see more after the agenda:
Featuring for the tech portion, Ravin Kumar a core Contributor to ArviZ and the PyMC suite of projects. Ravin enjoys the “choose your own” adventure of Open Science which allows each person the flexibility and freedom to pursue what they enjoy with minimal outside influence. As a mentor Ravin also enjoys helping folks find their path in the wide open world of Open Source. Ravin is Principal Data Scientist at PyMC Labs.
Featuring for the career portion, Lily Salem, seasoned career advisor to data professionals at all levels. Having worked in the Silicon Beach, Silicon Valley, Silicon Forest and coast to coast, she was part of the team to launch the first West Coast PyData Conference, a global endeavor with a strong following. Lily has seen how adding open data projects to one’s resume can make them distinguished as a candidate and persuasive in the interview. She has worked for top tier regional and globally recognized universities including business schools and now coaches candidates who would like to advance in their career or transition from a quantitative background to more of a business focus.
