Empowering Women: Tackling Toxic Productivity & Hustle Culture

Details
Join us as we explore the toxicity and impact of hustle culture and workaholism on work-life balance in the DevOps space.
This April we are amplifying the voices of women from our tech community. You can expect a forward-thinking discussion led by leaders from around the globe for another uplifting and empowering panel discussion.
Is the age of 80-100 hours a week a thing of the past? The pandemic transformed the workplace, bringing awareness to unrealistic expectations. More mindful initiatives such as the four-day work week, hybrid office models, shorter commutes, and flexible and inclusive work perks have been implemented to encourage more of a balance. Do you live to work, or work to live?
Discussion points:
- What is hustle culture?
- How can hustle culture show up at work and in everyday life?
- How to break away from hustle culture?
- Realistic steps to success
- How to build confidence and understand it takes time

Temi Olukoko
Temi is a DevOps Engineer at Funding Circle UK, a FinTech company based in London. She is also the founder of Simplex Code, an educational tech platform that aims to make technical concepts simple and industry information accessible to those interested in pursuing a career in technology.
Steph Weiss
As the IT Business Relationship Director for Product, Merchandising, and Corporate Responsibility at Burberry, Steph is a passionate advocate for the power of technology to unlock business value.
After 10 years leading fashion product development and sourcing at several US brands, she found herself increasingly frustrated by poorly designed, poorly implemented technology solutions limiting the effectiveness of her and her team. She saw the opportunity to influence such projects as an insider and transitioned to a change management role, leading the implementation of PLM technology across a 5,000 global user base for Target Corporation along with several omnichannel initiatives
In her 6 years at Burberry, Steph successfully leads the rollout of PLM technology as the Change Manager and now leads a Product Management organisation that is leading in unlocking business value through initiatives like UI Transformation of the core PLM solution, virtualisation of showroom selling, and most recently enabling a traceable raw materials and product supply chain.
Throughout her career, Steph has been fortunate to work with strong female leadership and promote the development of female talent in IT. She is currently the leadership sponsor of Burberry’s Women in Technology employee resource group and works actively to find solutions that allow mums the flexibility they need to balance their career ambitions with family responsibilities.
Amy Allen
London College of fashion Fashion grad turned Software Developer turned Devops, neurodiverse, STEM Ambassador and passionate about championing for equality and change within the tech sector. She also has one of the UK's biggest Hello Kitty collections and loves hiking, remote nomadism and retro gaming.
Alex Hibbitt
Alex is Head of Site Reliability Engineering for albelli-Photobox Group and has spent the last 8 years in the DevOps space after a career change following a decade-long stint in the film industry. He is passionate about building diverse, inclusive high performing technology teams and scaling out DevOps capabilities within organisations. Outside of work, Alex is a nigh-on obsessive Avios points collector, willing to jump through all sorts of hoops, sometimes literally, to add points to his collection.
