Women in Digital Basel

Join us for the first Women in Digital Basel Meetup ...
We're looking forward to the first Basel meetup on October 4. We'll be meeting on the first Tuesday of every month.
This is a "for the community by the community" style meetup. Our goal is to create a place where we can network and share knowledge. We are all experts in something!
Good conversation and good food go hand in hand... so we've started this google doc (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YkqXPS-x7B-nYlJ0AVEIP9vz998Bv3y7ELE4BYtrZM4/edit?usp=sharing) for food and drink contributions. Please add your name and what you'd like to bring.
We're lucky to have Gillian Millar (https://ch.linkedin.com/in/gillmillar), multimedia journalist and broadcaster as the speaker for our first meetup. The former BBC TV news presenter and correspondent will talk about her experience of the impact of digital information and communication technology on the way news is gathered and broadcast – and asks how do journalists maintain their skills and principles in an environment where anyone can make news and share it globally.
Doors open: 18:30
Presentation: 19:00 - 19:30
Apéro: 19:30 - ....
Our group's main language is English but of course everyone is welcome!
We look forward to seeing you there!

Journalism: from traditional to digital via smartphones, blogs and social
Not so long ago news was gathered, produced and broadcast in a very linear way - but in this digital age the dynamic has completely changed and there is now so much more for journalists and organizations to consider. From instantaneous news gathering and sharing on social media, to the growing appetite for online videos and blogs – the talk will consider the wider implications these changes have on the way news continues to be gathered and consumed.
