The Music of the Spheres: Artist Talk with Chalda Maloff

Music of the Spheres Artist Talk
You are invited to join Ceres Gallery and Women of Culture for Music of the Spheres, an artist talk featuring artist Chalda Maloff in conversation with curator and editor of 50 Contemporary Women Artists, Heather Zises.
Rooted in the Greek philosophy of “Music of the Spheres” and created primarily on a tablet, Maloff’s digital paintings of botanic and aquatic images pulsate with the rhythm of life.
“This series of pieces originated in my mind on a wee hours saunter on an urban greenbelt,” says Maloff. “My attention was seized by a microcosm of insect webs and dew drops, which seemed to throb with an exquisite energy that felt almost audible. The spectre recalled to me the ancient concept that celestial bodies vibrate to make a form of music.”
Kristen Woodward, professor and curator, states: “these new pieces maintain an ethereal beauty that evokes a flux in time… they offer the viewer a glimpse into evolution and transfiguration.”
We will talk with Maloff about her unique, digital process, how her art practice has evolved in the digital age, and her connection to Greek philosophy. This is a FREE event; drinks and snacks will be available.

More about Chalda Maloff
Texan artist Chalda Maloff creates images that evoke emotion, sensuality, and spirituality. In her unique process, she builds images with freehand tablet drawing, combined with various digital effects and filters. She occasionally incorporates a scan of one of her natural media drawings but doesn’t employ any type of photography and prints in-house. She reworks the digital file between prints, yielding variations within an edition so that each artwork is unique.
