NEW LOCATION: Courtyard by Marriott Seattle Downtown/Lake Union ABOUT THIS MONTH'S MEETING: Donna Linn: A Cultural Education. After leaving her native England at age 18 to live in Canada and then the U.S., Donna Linn earned her Masters Degree from the School for International Training in Vermont and has taught English as a Second Language (ESL) and English Language and Culture for many years. Along the way, Donna has lived and worked in Poland and the Middle East, and spent extensive time in Europe, especially Germany and Russia. She has taught immigrants, refugees and international students in the U.S. for over 20 years. Those experiences, plus her extensive personal world travel, have given her insight into the nuances of culture and the value of engaging with people 'around the kitchen table' - learning their values, priorities and ways of viewing the world on a deeper level. As WON works to 'enlighten and empower' women, this meetup will encourage an awareness of the differences between the US and other cultures. Having that knowledge will better prepare us to relate well with people of all cultures, whether while traveling outside the US for business or pleasure, or relating to the multi-cultural environment of Seattle.
