Welcome to the Woodside-Sunnyside Runners! We are based in western Queens, but are not confined to those two fine neighborhoods. Join us from near or far. We have free weekly runs taking place in, around, and beyond our neighborhoods, in addition to special destination runs, social events, and fundraising initiatives.
Read the descriptions of our regularly scheduled runs and RSVP to join a run at woodsidesunnysiderunners.com
Come for a run with us — we won’t leave you behind, and we won’t hold you back!
Our values:
Participation: We welcome runners of all paces and levels of experience.
Community: We are committed to being a positive force within our neighborhoods.
Inclusivity: We are committed to ensuring an environment that includes all our neighbors, regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, or religion.
Our mission:
Participation: Woodside-Sunnyside Runners seeks to bring together local runners to support each other and the community. We strive to be kind, equitable, and antiracist in making running a sport that is increasingly accessible to all. We are also committed to the physical and emotional safety of our runners. We take measures to ensure that every runner remains safe during our events and in our online platforms.
Community: We are committed to being a positive force within our community and actively working toward making our neighborhoods the best they can be. We recognize that systemic oppression and racism have created inequity in our community. We regularly organize volunteer opportunities and fundraising events in conjunction with our local community to help fill the gaps created by these injustices.
Inclusivity: We are an intentionally inclusive group where difference is valued. The diversity of our membership reflects the diversity that makes our neighborhoods so special. We welcome runners of all backgrounds, paces, and experience levels because we believe diversity makes us all better — better athletes and better neighbors.
A word about our Facebook group:
We moderate posts to ensure that our members are not spammed by promotional posts. Any post from an active member of our running community is approved as swiftly as possible.
Bullying of any kind is not allowed and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity are never tolerated.

Sunday Long Run

Needs a location

Join us for our Summer Long Run series!

Please check details and comments close to the run, every long run is different and that can include the meeting spot.

Long runs are a little different from our other group runs. We try our best to keep everyone together, but when routes are long and unfamiliar and everyone is focused on their own training goals, we can lose each other. Before you join, please make sure you can complete this distance (have run something close to it before) and are prepared to find your way or get yourself home if you lose the group or can't finish the run for any reason. Recruiting friends who run close to your pace is a great idea! If you need more or less mileage in your plan, we recommend you add a little distance beforehand or plan to join the group along the route.

Some of our long runs are loops and some have a destination outside our neighborhood, so you may need a way to get home and you may want to plan to stick around, get food, and hang out.

Please bring:
- Water
- A phone
- A metrocard or other way to get on transit
- A mask for transit
- Anything you need for sun protection or nutrition
- Money, even if it's a few dollars to get water

We will wait up to 5 minutes to allow for late arrivals. Please be prompt!
