About us
The two-day class covers in the fundamentals of furniture making, using time-honored joinery, taught in a supportive shop environment with a maximum of 12 students. We will begin building a bench that can be used as seating for up to 2 people or as a small table.
-Learn to use traditional woodworking hand tools; chisels, dovetail saws, bench and block planes, drills.
-Make mortise and tenon joinery with tusk wedges and foxtail wedges.
-Develop the skills and understand the process of building furniture with traditional joinery.
-The focus of the class is learning joinery and developing hand tool skills.
-Please note you may not finish the bench in one weekend. You can complete it at home or join another class as an ongoing student ($120- a day).
Class fee is $325- plus a $35- materials fee ($360- total). All tools are supplied.
Classes are Saturday, 10am to 5pm and Sunday 10am-4pm.
The instructor is Debey Zito, a professional furniture maker and interior designer, who has been designing, building and teaching furniture making for over 40 years.
The studio is in Sebastopol, one hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge.
