Talk 1 - To infinity and beyond - making WordPress fly with Jetpack by Kayleigh Thorpe
This talk will be showing the various features of the Jetpack plugin, from its built in analytics, to form and portfolio building, and how you can use the Jetpack plugin to improve your site’s visibility. Using real examples from Kayleigh own site to show how much you can do with this one plugin.
Kayleigh is a WordPress Support Specialist at 34SP.com (https://34sp.com). She works supporting customers with their WordPress related issues and enjoys using WordPress in her personal as well as professional life, and also enjoys contributing to the community.
Talk 2 - Look, I made a thing - so can you by Tim Nash
What happens when you finally admit you are not a designer and that the really cool all singing and dancing site full of animation and cool effects is beyond your abilities. Then perhaps its time to look at what WordPress can do and look at what you are good at. In this talk Tim is going to show his new site, share his frustrations with theme design and why even if it doesn't look anything like the original idea he is really proud of his creation.
Tim is not a designer, but has worked with WordPress for many, many, many years and is a co-organiser of WP Leeds he is also the WordPress Platform lead at 34SP.com (https://34sp.com).
A big thank you to Platform (https://bruntwood.co.uk/our-locations/leeds/platform/) who let us use their fantastic venue for free!
Thanks to the lovely folks at 34sp (https://34sp.com), there will be pizza for everyone at the start of the event.
Why not speak at a future event?
We are always looking for people to come and speak at our events. So if you have an idea for a talk, a discussion or just want to show folks what you have been working on, please get in touch. You don't need to be a professional speaker or even to have spoken in a group before.
If you don't want to do a talk, but are interested in hearing about a specific subject, or have an idea/problem, please get in touch and we will try and find someone who can help.
