70 Days Until WordCamp Orlando - Are You Ready?

From: Lisa M.
Sent on: Friday, September 26, 2014 12:39 PM

Hello WordPressers! The WordCamp Orlando team has been hard at work putting together our annual WordCamp conference! This will be our 6th conference and the Rosen College of Hospitality has graciously agreed to host us once again. That means fountainside networking in the atrium, hot buffet lunches catered by hospitality experts, and close proximity to all the Orlando attractions!

This year we're doing things a little differently by running the camp on Friday and Saturday, December 5-6. But don't worry, it may be different days of the week, but it's still the same great programming you've come to expect at our events.

Speaking of programming…

Speaker Submissions are Open!

If you're passionate about WordPress and want to share your experiences, knowledge, tips and tricks with the rest of us, submit your talk for consideration! We are looking for speakers on a variety of topics from users to developers, designers and programmers, eCommerce experts and photography blog pros. Speaker submissions are open until October 7 so get your entry in ASAP! We'll start announcing the first round of speakers mid-October.

Calling All Volunteers!

Want to get involved with making this WordCamp the best one yet? We are looking for volunteers to fill a variety of roles, from setup and breakdown to speaker hospitality and registration table staff. Check out our volunteer page and send your information and job preferences to Carol Gann. We will be organizing a volunteer meeting in early November to work out schedules and delegate jobs.

Can't Wait for WordCamp?

If you're eager to learn from and interact with other WordPressers you don't have to wait until December! Our next meetup will feature a short talk by WordCamp veteran Lisa Melegari on how to get the most out of WordCamp Orlando!

October 1 - Introduction to the WordPress Platform
Envy Labs (618 E South St #620, Orlando, FL) 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

And don't forget! We have another meetup coming up on October 11th where you'll have an opportunity to ask your best WordPress questions and get answers from your fellow WordPress enthusiasts! To get your brain juices flowing, join us before the meetup at 7:30 a.m. for the Zebra Run - a 5k run/walk at Lake Eola Park supporting the Zebra Coalition. For more information and to register as a runner/walker, visit

BONUS - Those who attend the Zebra Run get an exclusive rainbow WordPress pin!

October 11 - WordPress Q&A Roundtable
IDEAS Orlando (64 E. Concord St., Orlando, FL) 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Make Sure You're in the Loop

Thanks for sticking with us through this long e-mail - we hope to see you on October 1!
