This event will be highly interactive and discussion-driven. Emphasis will be on PARTICIPATION, not presentation.
6:30 - 7:00 Meet, Greet and Eat! - We'll share some food and drink, and do a bit of informal networking.
7:00 - 7:15 Welcome/Introductions
7:15 - 8:40 Presentations & Discussions
Topic A: Starting a WordPress Business Roundtable (ALL levels)
Sandra Ierardi, Discussion leader
Ever thought about starting up your own WordPress-based entrepreneurial venture? In this roundtable discussion, we'll delve into selected topics about how to successfully do just that. For those who have already gone down this path, get ready to share your own strategies, tips, tricks, and war stories. For those aspiring to dip their toe into these waters, bring your hairbrained schemes (er, I mean, IDEAS), questions, concerns, hopes, and fears to the discussion.
Topic B: Razzle Dazzle Quick and Dirty Demos (ALL levels)
Jonathan May, Demo wrangler
This will be a slideware-free lightning round of YOU, our members -- yes, I'm looking at ALL of you -- showing us websites that YOU have built or are building. You can share one of your proudest works and point out some key/cool features you implemented. For those brave enough, you can show us a dismal failure, so we can learn what NOT to do. If you're building a new site and are struggling to make something work or look right, show us the problem and we'll (quickly!) try to brainstorm a solution. Anything and everything is fair game -- as long as it fits into a 7-MINUTE WINDOW! If this segment is a success, we'll consider having repeat performances at future Meetups.
Topic C: Yet another Gutenberg Update -- The target release date for WordPress v5.0, the release the will contain the Gutenberg editor, HAS BEEN SET
8:40 - 8:50 Open mic (ALL levels)
8:50 - 9:00 Wrap up
